What we liked?

The materials used are sustainably crafted and chosen with meticulous detail to the origin of each of their material components. Tropicfeel gave great attention to their sustainability initiative in curating this masterpiece, which comprises of 90% recycled materials. It’s curated with 100% recycled polyester and nylon. While being incredibly durable, the nest backpack is water-resistant. It can hold up the things inside dry in light rain for about an hour, which is not as protective as a water-proof fabric alternate. To know the exact difference between water-resistant and waterproof, you can check out our explanation here.

The backpack has YKK zippers all through its construction, with no.5 on its interior and no.8 along the exterior. The external pulls have a paracord-like material with internal pulls made of standard metal. In addition to this, the plastic hardware comes from Duraflex. The strap adjusters and sternum straps are convenient to use and are snappy while providing the durability of Duraflex.

With its four colorways, the lighter one can have sweat stains on them which turn lighter when the moisture dries out, but this can be avoided by opting for the two darker colors – navy and black.

The Organization

In its organization, the compact backpack must amaze you in terms of how well it can sort all your routine essentials. Starting with a sleek laptop pocket just behind the straps, it can hold a 16” laptop easily. The bottom of the backpack has this amazing ‘Kangaroo Pocket’ – you just unzip the bottom, and it would unfold a 4L extra expansion for your shoes while you’re traveling or like to keep an extra pair of shoes for your comfort if you need to walk for long stretches during your day. On the bottom side of the backpack, there is a protected foldable compartment to keep things that need to be kept apart, like your thermos or water bottle which can spill or leak. And lastly, the ‘Spider Net System’, which is a detachable divider that can hold onto any extra belongings. Conclusively, the Nest backpack is incredibly versatile in that it can be converted from a size of 16L (your everyday backpack) to 30L (for your weekend trips). This is how TropicFeel puts it:

The only backpack you need for life’s ever-changing moments.”

Now jumping onto the main compartment after a host of appreciations over its organizational prowess, the main compartment is cleverly simple. It has a clamshell opening, which gives you a clear and an entire view of all what you’ve put inside. To enhance the organization that suits your needs, Nest backpack comes with accessories that could be added for a more customized feel. One of them is the ‘Smart Packing Cube’. It has a hook which lets you hang it like a mini wardrobe inside you backpack. Other one is the Kangaroo pocket, which can be attached at the bottom for extra packing accessories like shoes. Another one is the Camera Cube that allows you to pack your camera with its accessories inside the main compartment.

The side water-bottle with the elastic closure can fit a smaller sized water bottle with a rather small diameter, otherwise the pocket can house small stuff for easy access. There are three adjustable side-straps that could be used to attach larger gear onto the bag. One is above the side water bottle pocket and two others on the other side. This one above the water bottle pocket can hold stuff like a tripod, and the two others can accommodate, let’s say, trekking poles with the two attachments stopping them to swing. The top pocket is attached with the top handle, which is excellent for quick-use gear.

The right shoulder strap has two loops made of flexible material and a ring to attach extra gear for quick grabs, and the left shoulder strap has a slider to hold stuff like sunglasses. Its sternum strap rail system is great for micro-adjustments to suit your precise comfort.

The Comfort

The comfort level of the backpack is most keenly designed to ensure maximum utility over an extended period. The back panel is well-thought-out, with the usual padding throughout, it has small holes every few inches to allow for adequate airflow. Over these is a covering of breathable mesh, which conveniently allows air to pass through. The mid-section of the back panel has a luggage pass-through, which can help you carry this as a travel backpack.

Customer Review: “Modern and super leight weight in quality materials – can only recommend.”

The great thing about the luggage pass-through is that it has the same level as the rest of the back panel, without any raise so you won’t feel a thing while you are carrying it on your shoulders. The comfort is not just about how the backpack makes you feel, but it also includes how well it can help you conveniently carry your things and access them. Interestingly, the luggage pass-through has a hidden pocket where you can keep your necessary documents like a passport or any ID while you’re using it as a travel backpack.

The shoulder straps too have a mesh cover, but they don’t have holes in it like the back panel, so they are slightly less ventilated than the panel and may make you sweat slightly in scorching weather.

Another overarching comfort feature that may not seem obvious is the size flexibility the bag offers. Being a minimalistic compact 16L backpack in its original form, it can be expanded up to 30L conveniently. This means you don’t have to carry the extra load and a bulged-up 25L or 30L backpack when you don’t need that capacity and can modify it whenever you feel like it in no time with impeccable tidiness.

Conclusion

The Nest backpack is designed for ultimate comfort and versatility, featuring a breathable back panel with a convenient luggage pass-through and hidden pocket. Its adjustable size, ranging from a compact 16L to a spacious 30L, ensures adaptability for any situation. This thoughtful design makes the Nest backpack an excellent choice for those seeking a blend of comfort and functionality.
